I plan to drive this winter for vacation (haven't decided where) with my kids, I am not too much into technology, I do not want any bluetooth (my cell phone is not blue tooth - Sprint- Samsung A900). I have never used I-pod or I-tunes. Still i want the simplest and the best GPS, so that I could go to whereever I want without any handicaps. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Government should obligate auto manufacturers install electronic devices which use GPS and cell phone technology to do automated speed violation report to traffic police. Which will print out fine, which will be mailed to the car owner. ALL AUTOMATED. RESULT? LESS DEPENDANCE ON ARABIAN OIL, LESS POLUTION, SAVED LIVES. LESS TRAFFIC JAMS. WHAT EVERYONE THINKS ABOUT IT?
GPS coverage and/or roadmaps for Greece? As far as I know, only Athens area is available with some GPS roadmap manufacturers. It would be great to be able to drive through Greece and the islands with the help of this modern technology; although I admit it must not be easy to compose such complete roadmap considering the sometimes confusing or missing roadsignes.. Anybody with some experiences?

An insurance company introduced a pay as you drive insurance policy. Who is the maker of the gps device? I've searched the web but can't find the information anywhere. The insurance company licenced the pay as you drive technology from a US company. What with a recent report out on road congestion, this means that a gps type device would need to be fitted to every car to track the distance travelled, where and when the car went. I need help determining if my new product idea is a realistic one? I won't go into specifics but it would be a range of products that use GPS technology. I am in the UK. I am only at the 'idea stage' and therefore I would like to know how I can go about determining if there is already a similar product on the market and how I can find out if my idea (and hopefully the resulting product range) can be protected by a patent or something similar. My worry is that because GPS technology is available to anybody I will not be able to bring the products to market without being blown away by a company with more experience and financial power.
Creationists???? Please explain. You are typing on a computer that uses the theory of electronics and quantum mechanics to operate. You may drive a car that uses GPS technology, which is based at least in part on relativity theory (the clocks on satellites run a little slower than on earth). You drive a car that relies on electrical, mechanical and chemical theories to operate. You most likely rely on some drugs a doctor prescribes that rely on molecular biology theory and chemical theory. I could go on and on. My point is why do you have difficulty accepting evolution, which is based on the same sound science at the fore mentioned theories??? Are the others just convenient things you can use in you daily life without having to think about? Are you just so blind to the world around you that it doesn't matter or requires too much energy to contemplate? Oh, my bad...I forgot most of you don't know what a theory is...so here is the definition. If you don't believe me look it up yourselves. Theory: A set of statements or principles devised to explain a group of facts or phenomena, especially one that has been repeatedly tested or is widely accepted and can be used to make predictions about natural phenomena. Opps...I forgot all about the "research" at the discovery institute in seattle that says intelligent design is a science too....News flash its not science. Never will be. Can education be enhanced with technology? Hi all, I am a Computer Engineering student, in my 3rd year of university. Me and my teammates are competing in a technology contest whose theme is: Imagine a world where "technology enables a better education for all". We are currently doing research on this theme in order to come up with an innovative and feasible idea for the contest. The actual solution can include ANY kind of hardware and/or software resources as needed. This means that no matter how wild the ideas might turn out to be, we can build them! Anything from motors, GPS locators, PDA's, LCD screens and so on can be used, so it's just a matter of imagination. Also, there is no specific limitation on what type of education should be approached, so don't worry about that. If you have any ideas on this theme we would greatly appreciate your suggestions. Should I even bother becoming an Air Force navigator? All of the feedback I've received about this job has been overwhelmingly negative ("it's a dead-end job"..."you're basically just a paassenger and don't get to fly the plane"..."you make coffee for the pilot"., etc.,) I've flight physicaled and they say I'm okay to go for a nav slot but they disqualified me for pilot. I failed the depth perception test so laser-eye surgery won't do me the slightest bit of good (what a waste of potential talent for someone with a near-perfect PCSM score). Furthermore, why does the Air Force (supposedly) continue to have such a high demand for navs if GPS technologies are supposedly making these positions obsolete? Don't worry, I don't believe everything my recruiter tells me.
Do USAF Air Battle Managers do any actual flying? I realize that they're not pilots but I read on Wikipedia that they are actually required to do a certain number of flight hours each month in order to maintain their rating. Which is convenient for me since I plan to continue with my civilian flying anyway, even after I'm on active-duty. I failed my flight physical; they DQ'd me for pilot because of my depth perception. They say I may have a good shot at getting qualified for a nav slot, but I've decided I don't want to do that. Everybody I've spoken with says that nav is a boring, meaningless position, and besides, with the advance of automated cockpits, GPS technologies, etc., those jobs are going the way of the dodo. Or maybe I could be a simulator instructor. I have a Private Pilot's License and my PCSM score was near-perfect. Too bad, because if I had been medically qualified I might have had a good shot at a pilot's slot.

I'm thinking of leash cell-phones sold to parents to enable to track at will the location of their teenager-children through GPS. Privacy be damned! I'm thinking of indiscriminate traffic cameras at intersections to catch, and convict, and then fine anyone out of position during light changes either intentionally or by error? 4th amendment due process, presumption of innocence, and probable cause, and police state concerns all be damned. I'm thinking of national ID cards with smart technologies indicating your identity and providing information about you on an involuntary basis. Privacy and the Bill of Rights be damned. I'm thinking of warrantless searching of communications. etc. My question is staked from my position on the technologies I sighted. Though the details I added at the time I posed the question express my orientation to my own question, I was expecting answers based on addressing the question asked and not on irrelevant personal criticisms like the adhominems posted by Kay. The ignorance and the stupidity of some people is really scary especially when they have no real understanding ofthe way technologies with anti-privacy, anti-constitutional implications are being designed and deployed. Please consider the importance ofthe automated element which removes humans from the equation and thus dehumanizes us all. Please remember to explain your position going beyond simple no's or yes's. I note that many have done so already. Sometimes I wish one could discuss the Q&A after the Q is resolved. That would provide the participants an opportunity to indicate what they learned or how they have changed intheir thinking. The comment section is inadequate.
is there a GPS system i can simply install in my car and track from home? I have a small fleet of trucks running around town for my business, is there a device that lets me find their possition from my office computer/internet? I am aware that there are more complex systems out there, but i'm trying to see if there is something less expensive and simple..... with today's technology, there should be thanks!
Tracking : Best Method GPS? RFID? etc..? I'm doing an IT project in college which requires me to track a person's movement within a certain area (less than 100m squared)? Is it worth getting a GPS for travel in Mexico? Which device is better/has bet maps? We are not very technology savy, and have travelled Mexico lots, but thought it might be handy. We just don't know what to be looking for when buying one or if it's worth it.
Need technical opening CD Rom for a GPS car navigation system.? I have a C310x car navigation system manufactured by Mio Technology Limited, www.mio-tech.com. The system itself works fine. My problem is that I can not open the CD that came with the system which contains MioMaps, User Manual and MioTransfer. I can open other CD's on my computer. My daughter can open the CD on her laptop. The CD is 1.19 GB, 223 files, 18 folders. My computer has 13 GB free out of a total of 18 GB available. I've also tried to dowload the info from the web site, but after running for a few hours I get a message that Microsft couldn't download it. Any ideas?

And honestly now, how often do you consult the thick user manual that comes with these products? I think we just like strutting about with the stuff to look cool?
can some of the viper/defender from the 1990s TV series be outfitted with today's technology? in the 1990s tv show "Viper" a metitmorphing car turned into the Defender with "Gadgets" like oversied inflating on-road to off-road tires and a flying/hovering probe with a camera linked to the car and a hand held remote controle with a view monitor. the car also had 2 side compartments that held numberous things like grapling hooks and EMP balls that disabled cars dead in there tracks. My real question is, can the probe be recreated with the lightest polymers and "Cell processors" as well as lightwieght moters and GPS navigation Vidio cameras fly, function, and look as seemlesly as it did in the TV series?

A thought about the Anti-Christ?? SOme say the Anti-Christ will come when the world is at great war and famish across the world. Then true Christians will be lifted out into the sky and the rest will suffer the rapture (like me), unti the world is too far gone and GOD sends Jesus to slay the Anti-Christ. Knowing this could George Bush be the precusor to the Anti-Christ, since he is prolonging war and making peace out of reach, which is the perfect sitting for the arrival of the Anti-Christ. Calling people living round Parkhead Forge, Glasgow, Scotland. I need your help, it is i,portant. Thank... Well, I was on holiday in Scotland for 2 weeks, with my parents. I went with my campvan and our first stop in Scotland was in the Parkway Forge Shopping Center. It was Sunday 12nd November. I met the most amazing lad, he was working at the cinemas as security, and he helped us getting to ASDA: I know nothing about him, I know he was cute, he had a very strong Scottish accent and he was very down to earth. We used our 2 GPS's and a laptop and he jokingly said "With all this technology and you still get lost". I never got to say anything about swapping numbers or e-mail addresses and I would like to track him down, I loved the way he treated us and how he helped us. By the way we met around 8pm, because we got to ASDA by 8:30. If you know him, or if you are reading this please get back in touch. how can I upgrade ppc 2002 to 2003 on DellAxim X5 400mhz? I have been trying to upgrade GPS Dest 2 to Dest 6 (which Dest technologies said was OK) But I can't install the nav software from the Dest Console. I get the error msge cannot retreive data from mobile device. even when shown as connected and syncd . I think it may be that ppc2002 needs upgrading
