What % of cell phones in the US have GPS built in? In the US, the federal government requires cell phone companies to know where cell phone users are. This is so that if a cell phone user calls 911, the police/EMS/etc can find them. Some cell companies perform this look up via cell tower triangulation whereas others do it via GPS. I want to know what companies/phones do this with GPS! And I'm curious what % of cell phones in general have GPS built in!

Pennsylvania Ankle Bracelet Enhancements, GPS belt? Cell phone that is a breathalizer? Okay, I need some clarification. My BF is telling me this 'Story' about a guy at work who is on house arrest for DWI in Pennsylvania. The guy told him that instead of a bracelet he wears a belt that he can't go 10 feet from and that can pinpoint him everywhere he goes. Also, that he has a cell phone that he must carry at all times that can't be used to make phone outgoing calls but that his probation officer can call and when answered the arrestee's breath is analyzed for alcohol with a breathalizer. This sounds SO far fetched to me. Is this true as my bf says or am I right that his co-worker is pulling one over on him?
How can I get a GPS location of my cell phone? I mean currently without signing up for Nextels GPS tracking services. Is thier an application or website or some other method to enter a cell phone number and have it return an application I've seen on TV private eye get a location via a cell phone. I have a pocket pc, gps device with it, 2 cell phones, 1 verizon and 1 cingular... I use the pda to test software and design small interfaces. I had the cheap software and little gps unit that is pretty small. One cell phone is off contract, it's the verizon. The cingular is my home phone transferred to cellphone. I wanted to keep my home phone number I've had for 20 years but Verizon COULD NOT transfer it. I tried. I call my verizon friends on the verizon and cingular on that phone. Also Cingular gives you a rollover plan. I have too much stuff to carry and like to keep things compact and cheap. I have high-speed internet at home with an N router. I would like to share this with a neighbor who lives nearby and split the cost. All this data and phone stuff I want to pare down as much as possible without losing quality. Help!
