I'm searching for a new laptop...?
I'm about to buy a new laptop and am looking for suggestions on what specs I should get. I'm going to be using it at school (i'm a college student) and will be running programs like AutoCAD, Photoshop, a limited number of games, and also for downloading music and photos. I was also thinking about getting a TV tuner and/or GPS system because I travel a lot. I'm looking for suggestions on how much memory I should get, harddrive capacity, processor specs, brand issues, etc etc etc. I don't think I can have a mac, although I would love one.

- A good brand of laptop to get is Asus, they are not a very known brand because they are newer but they have high expectations. Look at the Asus website http://www.asus.com/, you can type in your preferences of what you want to use it for and it gices you some suggestions. For chistmas i got a laptop- it was an Asus F3J3, about $1700(australian) and has 120 gig, 1024 Ram, 512 Video card, has a webcam, microphone and alot more. I got it to use for my school. This laptop is good for me because i am going to do movie editing and Graphic making next year and it is a good laptop to use for this sort of thing. I also suggest to go into your local computer store and ask for advice and tell them what you are going to use it for and they will give you help.

- If you are going to be thinking ahead long term with the new Windows Vista coming out you should get at least this: RAM: not less than 1GB Hardrive: not less than 100GB Graphics: Not integrated, but a dedicated card Probably at least one with 128Mb Processor: At least Intel Core Duo, or even Better Core 2 Duo (2.0 Ghz) Consider also extended warranty based on how long you will be in school. (At least 2 years) I hope this helps.
