GPS does and donts on buying one?

Will be buying a GPS for my car in Australia and want to know any things to watch out for in gps. I will be buying a basic unit, I don't need any of the music or photo options etc. any info will be greatly appreciated. thanks......

basicly ,sensitivity and max number of satellites recieved(20) and lock in speed
