How do I tell windows XP to try to install new drivers for a usb GPS receiver?

Installing streets and trips on a new computer...I removed the cd rom without configuring my GPS receiver. Now Windows fails to recognize it when I plug it in...Previously it would sound-off and prompt me to install new hardware. After going through that process once unsuccessfully, i did not realize the do-not-promt-me-again box was checked. How do i make it prompt me again????

go to control panel and open add new hardware
go to device manager (right click the MY COMPUTER icon and click properties and click on the hardware tab then click the device manager button) and find the gps reciever in the list...it will have a yellow "!" next to it...double click it and go from there... -Doc-
