Want TomTom Car navigation for my PDA. Do I need a GPS receiver?
Some TomTom products come without a receiver although they advertise like you can get going without any additional purchases. Will I find that after I have bought my product I will then need to purchase a receiver as well, or is that just needed if I want to go wireless?

- if your pda has not got gps built in then you will require one.
- no tom tom comes ready to go ok
- You will need a gps receiver i have a acer 35n with built in gps and tom tom 5 its excellent if your pda has gps no probs if it has not you will have to buy it as an accessories
- yea u do need a receiver
- Yeah, you normally get a bluetooth GPS receiver included in a tomtom bundle. If you're buying seperates you'll need to make sure you get one, and remember that you ned to recharge or have plugged in your PDA & the bluetooth GPS, so its worth getting a cig lighter doubler. Buy the full kit is my advice, bit more expensive maybe, but you get a cradle, legal software & the bluetooth GPS.. maybe a free power doubler if you haggle!
- Yep you meed a GPS RX. These come a multitude of ways. Bluetooth is probably the best.
- You do not need a receiver, as you can set it to direct you from starting point to finish at a percentage of the speed limit, this doesn't help if you take a wrong road ad it will continue on the route you was meant to go on, and doesn't cont for traffic you may get stuck in. But with a receiver it will follow you and stop when you stop, and make the appropriate adjustments to get you on the right route again. I once had a sat nav without GPS then i got the receiver, but to be honest there are so many better out there then the TomTom, like this one available from Halfords NavSure 300i Satellite Navigation System http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10001&langId=-1&catalogId=10151&productId=239005&categoryId=33962
