Does anyone know of a GPS chip I can have permanently installed in my laptop?

I want to use it to create a sort of LoJack system.

  2. There are some PCMCIA GPS cards and USB compatible receivers available but they will cost significantly more than a bluetooth receiver and adapter. Either could be easily removed by a thief. It is very unlikely that you will be able to have a unit installed within your laptop, there will be nowhere to interface to and no space for additional equipment. A unit could feasibly be installed in a desktop that had an empty USB socket on the motherboard. Here are some ideas of available equipment. http://www.discountgpsdirect.co.uk/laptop-sat-nav-c-31.html http://www.mightygps.com/laptopgps.htm Lojack uses the ip address of the laptop to determine which isp and account it is using which is very different from GPS location. A GPS based system would need the laptop to be used in a location with a gps signal (i.e. outside) and also be connected to the internet at the same time.
