Video games and kids?
Do video game promote agression in kids? My friend's son is 9 and when he plays some of his video games, he screams at the game and throws the controllers..etc. My friend says he is just "competitive"...what do you think?

- Yea it causes violence. I'd like to quote bash.org: Video games don't cause violence, lag does. :D
- it can cause viloence but kids also get that from T.V. also .parents just have to control what their kids watch and what games they play
- my daughter used to do that and i would make her stop playing, then i would ground her for days, then weeks, then by the month. now she is so happy that she gets to play that she exercises more control and self discipline. i think it is lack of maturity and discipline and should not be tolerated or they will turn their aggression elsewhere. competition is not angry and violent, but determined and focused.
- Considering that most video games have some violence in them, and no consequenses that can not be fixed by restarting them, yes. Also when they play video games too much, they are lacking in another skill - learning how to play together, which will help them learn to get along, learn to see normal conflict and work towards resolutions. Also video games do not use up kids boundless energy. I find when my kids play outside biking, climbing, digging holes, whatever.., they are a bit too tired to fight as much. They feel good about themselves, too. I let my kids play some video games, but not as their main activity, and it is shut off and put away for a few days after one warning if there is fighting.
- I hate it when people say that video games cause violence. If you get frustrated, you also get frustrated on other things such as cooking or playing sports. You might keep messing up your dish, or keep missing the soccer goal. You also get frustrated by not being able to beat a level! Frustration is completly normal and anything can cause it.
