Sex and nudity in video games.?
What do you all think about sex in video games. A lot of gammers think that there is not enough. I think that there is an imbalanced between sex and Violence. There is way too much Violence but not enough sexual content.
I mean that it seems that it is ok to blow the head off a police officer like in Grand Theft Auto but it is not ok to have sex with your spouse like in the SIMS.
I have no problem with restricting the content to Adults only, any way possible. I would not want any child to have access to adult content. But just like porn there has to be a way to satify adult gamers.
It is not about making the story line in a game better because I beleive that it won't. I just think that people want a more realistic video game experience. In other words I would not like sex and nudity(in video games) to be (sometimes) dumb like in porn.

- Sounds reasonable to me. Which probably means that you and I will be in the minority.
- Americans are more freaked out about sex then killing. Blame the Puritans who founded the country. They were OK killing Indians and having slaves but not enjoying sex. Game makers always have to find the fine line between enough sex to hook the young males (most players are youngish guys) and to much to piss of the moms. I guess learning how to steal a car isn't as bad to some people as seeing boobies! p.s. I may be wrong about the Puritans and slaves, but the colonies had them.
- I think that there shouldn't be videogames like that. videogames are supposed to be fun. something that that wouldn't be fun at all, espicially b/c of the fact that it's not real. people need to just seriously not make/play videogames like that. what's the point anyway? the same with games that involve guns and stealing cars and crap like that. sure, let's just tell people to go shoot each and steal cars, because that's definitly how society should be run.(btw, that last part was sarcastic)

- I Don't Care About Sexual Content In Games, As Long As It Doesn't Freak Out The People Of Law, Government, Media, etc. And/Or Doesn't Have Access To The Young Ones.. If The People Want It, Let Them Have It, But Only Restrict It To Those People And Not Anybody Else..
- when you say its ok for violence in GTA and not ok for sex in The Sims... I think these two cannot be made into this kind of comparison. the main gameplay in GTA is voilence and being rebellious.. not the best theme for a game but it works in that genre. in the sims genre, unless its about sex like the playboy mansion sim, why would you want to have nudity in the gameplay of your copy of The Sims? Sex and nudity is a genre that thrives in japan, I feel this genre will not be noticed in the states for a long time coming. Game producers/programmers in the states seem to produce games with nudity where it isnt needed.. like BMXXX how do you put BMX bikes and naked girls together? There is plenty of games that uses nudity in its gameplay where its relevant. Like the Leisure Suit Larry series, how relevant is nudity when the gameplay is to get your character laid?! Also japanese dating sims are a genre that's been around for a long long time, hmm dating and nudity.. hand in hand? Some titles that uses nudity in a good way: Leisure Suit Larry Series Puzzle Games that rewards you ;] Sexy Beach Date Sims Lame titles that messed up the industry: Nude Tomb Raider BMXXX Stripfighter -_- GTA - Hot Coffee (oh what the hell were they thinking)
