Where can I get a small moderately priced GPS tracking device?

My bike has been stolen recently. Unfortunately, I had no way of tracking where it is currently but if I had some type of device for tracking it, I would not be asking this question now. You might say I watch to many movies but is there an almost undetectable device that sends signals for at least 24 hours upon theft and has a range of at least 5 miles? I've heard of this used in vehicles but I don't have that type of money and such a device would be so cumbersome, its not even funny. I've been searching for a while but Im not a very patient person with these search engines. So, if you know anything about tracking devices, tell me what you know, otherwise, go on to another question. Thanks.

  1. What you want would be expensive. Youre right about the technology, its available, but not practical $$$ for your application.
  2. I know LoJack can install a tracking device on your bike that will alert the police immediately if it gets stolen. The system might be kinda pricey though. You should check out thier website or it is pretty much offered at all car dealerships as an add on. Another option would be to to to those car stereo/alarm places. They have a device they can install in your car that will call or page you if it gets stolen. That might be cheaper than the LoJack system. Good luck!
  3. Install a mobile phone in your bike. The service provider could track your bike through your cellphone. Just hide the phone somewhere. I believe this is the cheapest way to track your bike next time.
