GPS = Global Positioning System - Satelite Navigation 'SatNav' GPRS = General Packet Radio Service - the sending of data in little packets which the GSM (Mobile/Cell phone) system uses to send more data more quickly. Has been superceeded by 3G which is soon to be superceeded by HSDPA. I-Mate has several different makes, I believe they're all GPRS compatible but have no GPS capability. Not to worry, you can buy a bluetooth receiver and download some software called CoPilot and hey-presto SatNav on your I-Mate. If you're really cool you can get software that gives you different voices for the navigation so James Bond can tell you how to get home. Hope this helps.
