A GPS receiver when boating is a great idea for boating safety..... but how will you attach the reveiver to the fish?
maybe contact the guys at west marine or boat us electronics ?
A gps is a great thing. I used one for geocaching. It is a high tech treasure hunting game. They are also good for hiking because you can mark where the car is and then you can get back to it easily. It is called a way point. I would imagine it would be great for fishing too because it could keep you safe. You could mark a fish with a tracking device the same way they track a bird or other animal, but I am not sure what the other device you are talking about is. You can also track a criminal or your kid with one of those new phones or put a tracer on a criminals car. GPS is a great system. Mine broke, but I am going to get another because they are such a good safety system. They have helped me a great deal from getting lost. You could use that to trace yourself and also to find yourself. If is safety all the way around. It can be used for you and against you. Someone will now be able to find you when you have a problem in your car and are lost in an emergency. Just from your cell phone.
lawrance has all in one systems with fishfinder and gps, even autopilot with trolling motor. how cool is that. you can troll same route over and over all day and never touch steering wheel or trolling motor. well until you catch a fish and need to stop or skier just got hooked on your line. lol, install fairly simply. just the same as fishfinder, then attach gps + & - fused of course. then mount reciever puck pointing straight up and plug in to monitor. the hard part is learning to use it. the new manuals are ring books and 100 pages an just the features. WOW is right. anyways, be safe on water and enjoy.
There are integrated systems, ask West Marine. They are friendly. A hand held works very well and can be plugged in to use less batteries.
