  1. My friend had one a Garmin it was totally awesome
  2. YES!!! I have an old Garmin sys3 plus. For the money I think that Garmin is top choice. I have used all the others inside and outside of the Aviation community in Alaska, but always go back to the Garmin.
  3. I have the cheapest model that Garmin makes. It's the Garmin 12. There are no maps, but you can store 500 waypoints by six character names. It will track you at one second intervals if you want it to. You can upload/download data using a shareware program called "gardown". Latitude and longitude can be manually entered to the tenth of a second or uploaded to the hundredth of a second. It cost me around $154 about 6 year ago at K-Mart.
  4. i have GARMIN GPSMAP 60CS, and i think it's the best, small and easy to use with a lot of options. http://www.garmin.com/products/gpsmap60cs/index.jsp
  5. I have owned 12 hand held GPSs over the past 15 years. Currently I own 5 of them and teach classes. I highly recommend Garmin brand GPSs as they seem to be the easiest to use and have the most competitive pricing for the features. I would suggest to take a look at the Rino series (120,130, 530 etc.), which are handheld GPSs that also have a FRS/GMRS radio in them. What's really nice about them is that they can transmit their location to one another thus be of great assistance when hiking, hunting, fishing, and a lot of other situations. Otherwise the 60Cx, 60CSx and the 60c are very good. I always recommend one with a Helix antenna as they have been found to be more accurate. Antennae that are built into the unit tend to have a bit less accuracy overall. I suggest you look at the address that I supplied for more information. Take Care, Tripp
